Katie Poteet’s Post

To me, creativity is thinking outside of the box and doing what hasn’t been thought of or done before, so when I saw these pictures I got really excited about where creativity had taken this designer. It is as if, this artist had finally decided that their canvas just wasn’t big enough so they decided to start designing the floor. This particular type of floor art is for cement, and can be added either while the cement is still drying or after the cement is dry. The end result is something very beautiful and also something intriguing; the floor has just become someone’s artwork that you get to walk all over.

  1. This is so creative! I love that the artist didn't let their canvas be limited to a typical space. I think this is a great example and reminder that we can't get caught up in what is expected and have to be confident enough to push the boundaries.

I also think that this artwork stands out because it is such a soft design on what is generally thought of as a hard and cold surface.

  2. this is super cool! i think this kind of thing would be great in a coffee shop, or restaurant. i, personally wouldn't want it in my house. but i love the idea and constructive use of space. seems easy and simple enough!

  3. It's a unique concept, but it must have, unfortunately, fairly limited application. Usually, with the exception of carpeting color, the floor is not factored in to interior decorations. This floor art, then, has the contradictory effect of both limiting and expanding design possibilities. The addition of the floor into the overall aesthetic will add a new dimension for creativity, but the design shown, it seems, will only work with a very few styles of furniture and wall decoration.

  4. Ooo, cool. At first, I thought this design was illuminated on the floor via a nearby light. I wonder how the design is adhered to the floor--stained maybe? Overall, it kinda gives the same effect of an area rug, although more modern and chic.

  5. Thats awesome, i have a friend who's parents did something similer to their floor, but nothing like what is in these pictures. These designs are really cool, and very detailed, i didnt know someone could do something that detailed on a floor!

  6. As a photographer, I really like the composition and the design elements included in these. The first one is like the Surrealism photography we have been discussing in fine art. I think anytime a photographer can incorporate design elements into their pieces it is very beneficial.
