Sophia Shafer’s Post

This last summer I went to Busan, South Korea for four days to see my dad. We did a lot of tourist things, one of which visiting the Busan Aquarium. While the aquarium was really nice the coolest thing I saw that day was this advertisement. When my family walked out of the aquarium we turned to cross the street and saw this and just started laughing. This advertisement is brilliant! It catches your attention, is funny, and effectively communicates it's message.

If something is out of place it catches your attention. So a car being on the side of a building is very catchy! I saw it and thought to myself, "why in the world is there a car on the side of a building" and it made me want to read the text so that I could find out the point of it. The whole concept of a car being parked on the side of a building is also hilarious. Plus, the text also makes you laugh. The advertisement also gets it's point across. Mini Coopers are very different from "normal" cars, therefore different. Parking wherever you want is "different." It really does make me want to buy a mini cooper because the advertisement is so good!

I think that these mini cooper advertisements are brilliant. They get your attention and make you want a mini cooper. The design is also aesthetically pleasing and funny.

  1. THIS IS HILARIOUS! The combination of a car on the side of a building and a curse word used in advertisement could not be more effective. Humor is always the best type of advertisement in my opinion, so this absolutely makes me want to support Mini Cooper. Plus, like Sophie said, a car on the side of a building is so bizarre you can't help but want to read the text to go with it.

  2. I really think this one is cool.. I never thought that something like this could be possible hahaha.. As Sophie said its really interesting to see how they make the point so obvious but in a funny way.. Overall I think its a good advertising because even if you dont care or like Mini Coopers you still would go and take a look to to this, just because its impossible not to be impressed by a car that is on the side of the building. . .

  3. This is a funny advertisement. If the text were different it wouldn't be as funny. The story makes me want to see guerilla advertising like this in real life. The advertisement is very effective. Humor is good in advertisement because it gets people in a good mood. If people get in a good mood every time your product is advertised they will tie in the product with being happy. Well done Mini Cooper.

  4. First of all, I definitely laughed when I first read this. It is a very creative form of advertisement that uses humor to get peoples attention. If I ever saw that when I was out and about, it would have definitely caught my attention! I don’t know if this advertisement makes me want that car, but it definitely made an impression and made me remember it. Swearing in advertising is an iffy thing… if it is pulled off well, then its probably going to be funny. If it isn’t, then it will come off crude. In this case, I believe that the swearing added to the message of the advertisement. Another thing that I believe adds to the advertisement is that it is a mini-cooper that is parked on the side of a BMW building.

  5. This is quite the advertisement! ha... It is creative and different, but I definitely don't think it makes me want the car. It makes view mini coopers in a different way, but I don't think being able to park anywhere is going to make me want a car like that. This may be completely different if I lived in South Korea where traffic and parking is probably more of an issue. I guess the context is probably important!
