When working on advertising campaigns or even within design for a business or company you have to create a sense of consistency but without having everything look exactly the same.
Starbucks is a great example of a company that does this well. In these two images you can see how Starbucks keeps all their design very consistent. From the bags to the cups and then the website it all has the same feel to it. It is clean and simple and everyone can tell very quickly that it is Starbucks. This sense of consistency carries over into designing for advertising as well. In a series of advertisements you want them all to have the same feel but not necessarily exact replicas of each other. I have included images of two different ad campaigns that I think do a great job creating consistency between the ads but also keeping them the same.
These are cool ad campaigns. The three ads for better jobs are very inventive. They took everyday things and made it seem as though people are controlling them. It is a powerful message to those in a job they don't like. All three of them are equally as good as the others. I think the one with the coffee is a little better than the other two but they are all three really well done. The bottom two are good but it would help if there was a way to read the text. I can't read it because it is so small. Purely speaking about the images i like the two coffee mugs a lot better than the shoes. I think it does a much better job of communicating the issue to the viewer. The image is more powerful and i immediately know what the campaign is talking about.
ReplyDeleteThese Ad Campaigns are amazing. I really wish that I could see one in person. They seem to be a very inspirational type of poster that is meant for people to do something special with their lives and do what they want to do. It brings to reality the shortness of life and that one should not stay in the same job if they are miserable. Those posters are very well designed and the campaign is very well orchestrated. The other posters confused me quite a bit. I was not quite sure exactly why the moms mug was broken and there was no real way for me to read the text. Thankfully I was able to understand what they were trying to convey and it makes sense. Although, I personally feel that the mug illustration does a better job of showing the cause. Both messages, however, are very powerful.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE the Better Job campaign for a few reasons. The first is because it is a cause that I would not have even thought about, and the second is how well it is executed. Each of these are very well sized and perfectly placed to appear as if there are people inside objects that are used every day. The other campaign took a little longer for me to recognize, but after some studying I recognized the effectiveness of it as well. The shoe one is very creative and powerful, while the coffee cup is beautiful but not as strong in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteThese ad campaigns are all very well done. The better jobs campaign is interesting, and is definitely the one that intrigued me the most. Even though I do not know exactly what they are trying to say or promote with the campaign, the designs are interesting and catch my attention. If I were to see these ads in person, I would definitely be curious enough to get a closer look and find out what they are trying to say. I also like the continuity of the designs throughout all of Starbucks advertising. With all of their products, it is clear that it is Starbucks, even if there weren't any words included. This would be hard to achieve, and they have done it very well.
ReplyDeleteI really like these campaigns. I think its amazing how incredible creative people can be specially when almost everything has being already design. I like the concept of the better job one.. and I think those ad cause an emotion right away, at the beginning I started laughing when I saw them, but then I start thinking actually about the content and the emotion that the poster was transmitting and I believe it really does a good job because it gets your attention and makes you think what you really want to with your life.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to the other one. I think that campaign its really powerful. Specially because I've never seen something like that before. I think that it gets the message across. I think they have done an amazing job with being consistant with their campaigns.
I love Starbucks in general but their image is fantastic as well. I really love their consistency because I know that no matter where I go in the world I can find a Starbucks because they all look the same. The design is also really crisp and clean, making it look professional and like a place someone would want to go. The Better Job campaign is amazing. When I first saw these I thought they were brilliant and I still think they are. They effectively get the message across to people in an interesting way. Plus they're pretty funny to look at because it looks like the person is smushed inside something. The ones about domestic abuse are really powerful. They take something that is a common item in households and show the harm from domestic abuse which is amazing. I think that they really capture your attention and make you think.
ReplyDeleteThat 'jobsintown' campaign is so great. If you had a job that you're unhappy with, these posters would, I think, make you really put your situation in perspective and want to search for a new job before you end up miserable like these people. The posters are also similar enough to be able to associate them with each other, but they are also different enough to provide variety. Starbucks also does a great job keeping their products and identity consistent. The green on the brown and white is ALWAYS there, and only those two colors. The last two posters are very nice too. You don't even need to read the text to understand the topic but it does really grab my interest; the mugs and shoes are such everyday objects that I wouldn't think that such a powerful message could be sent through them.
