Information Graphics

Info Graphics;
Information posters and graphics can be complicated to create especially when you have a lot of information that you need to include. When I was searching info graphics I really enjoyed ones that followed a general theme throughout the poster and kept things fun and interesting. When they used more interesting ways to represent normally mundane information (such as the types of facial hair information poster which you all saw in class). If you are stuck on good ideas I would suggest going to Goehners office and seeing if you can look in the Information is Beautiful book which is filled with excellent example, or even looking up info graphics on google will come up with some good results. People will not read a poster just filled with writing so you must find a way to draw people in and get them interested in what you are saying even if it is something that they would not normally be interested in. Below are some examples that I found that I grabbed my attention and made me want to find out what they were about just from their layout or imagery. I really like the final one which is an information poster for typography. I hope these help you all out. Also for any of you guys that have a pinterest account they have a lot of examples on there and whole boards dedicated to information graphics.

  1. I'm still trying to get a grip on what information graphics really are. It seems like a really broad topic in reading the article but this post makes it seem much simpler. I love the look of all the posters. They are interesting and simple. They really do draw your attention through their type choice, color, and the pictures/shapes. My favorite one is the type poster. It has so much character to it and makes you laugh. All of these posters do an excellent job of communicating different information.

  2. These help me understand information Design so much better! These examples provide information in an interesting and creative way that keeps the readers attention while still giving out a lot of information. I'm most impressed by the ones with a lot of text because those (to me) are the hardest to create.

  3. I think that all of these designs do a great helping me understand what information design really is. All of them also do a very good job presenting their information and making it clear. The one with the woman wearing a burqa definitely caught my eye and then right away I realized it was a pie chart. These designs show complicated information in a simple and easy-to-understand way.

  4. I love the poster with the beaded necklace, and the woman with the head covering. I believe that these are extremely creative ideas that use color, and a strong sense of imagery to convey the necessary information. They catch my attention immediately and they make me want to read what is on the poster. I feel like these graphics have really helped me understand a little better of what information design is. These designers take stuff that would normally be a little boring to talking about, and they were able to present it in a visually appealing manner that actually make me want to read the poster. And the best part is that it is presented in a easy to understand manner. It is all very creative!

  5. After the project i feel like i understand more what information design is. I wish there was a way to get a bigger image of the posters so that i could see the information more clearly. I really like the one that makes a sort of pie chart out of the woman's head covering. It's nicely done and a fresh idea. I think i would like the typographic poster better if i could read it. All of these posters are aesthetically pleasing, but i can not read the information so it does not help me. I enjoy the idea of information design.
