Stationery

Stationery;
When designing stationery you can go a more simple route keeping your design clean or you can add some new factors in. One thing that is important to remember is that you must keep your design consistent through out. Your letterhead must match the business card and the logo. It is a set and therefore it must all flow together nicely. Below I have included a variety of stationery sets which I believe are well designed and remain consistent.With all of these you quickly get the feel of the company/person and you can easily tell that all the pieces belong together.

  1. I feel like simple is best, especially with letterheads. The most important part of the letter is, well the letter. A good letterhead emphasizes that, and is well-designed, but not distracting. I really like the "Stitch" letter head. It's really clean, and looks professional with the way the paper was printed. "Fast Eddies" is kind of noisy, but quirky enough for it to work.

  2. I really like the the top two. The brown back with black stripes is interesting and adds to the letterhead without cluttering up the letter itself. I am not sure how that is accomplished seeing it is a full bleed. I geus it was a larger size of paper and cut to letter size after print? The Stitch one is nice too. It has a kind of vintage professional look to me. The colors and type and arraignment all have a little of a vintage feel I think. Just noticed the last one has all the info at the bottom of the page the exact same way for letterhead, envelope, and card. Nice and clean that way. Looks good but not too sure about the full size image on the back of the envelope.

  3. I really like the 3rd one and the Mad Brew one a lot and for different reasons. It is the simplicity that catches my eye for the Mad Brew set. It is very professional and the minimalism conveys cleanliness. On the other hand I really enjoy the diversity of the 3rd stationery set but I don't know how practical the "tag" shaped business cards are. The slightly pointed end on the card may cause difficulties for someone who is attempting to keep the card in a wallet or clutch. It is a creative idea but I would have to hold it to see if it is actually a wise idea on the designers part.

  4. All of the examples of stationery here are amazing. Several of them have a simplicity that still allows them to stand out. The ones that branch out have a really good idea behind it. I like how the travel theme is played out with the cards, and the brewery's business cards double as coasters.

  5. I really like the first 2 stationery designs. The first one I thin is really nice because it has a very professional feel. It is simple, but far from being boring. It almost has a feel of classiness to it. The second stationery has a completely different feel to it especially in comparison to the first. I really like how the Stitch stationery is fun, but clean at the same time. I agree with Stephen that the Stitch design has a vintage feel to it. I like that it feels vintage, but at the same time the "vintageness" (pretty sure that isn't a word) of it isn't overdone. I feel like the Fast Eddie's stationery causes too much focus to be put on the actual letterhead and not the letter that would fill it. Isn't the point of a letterhead to look professional and nice, but at the same time not be a distraction from the letter? Just a thought...

  6. I like all of different looks of the stationery, and how you are able to see the personality of the companies come out through the designs of the different components of the stationery. I like the simplicity of the designs and even when they have a lot of information on the business cards they are able to keep it looking clean and simple through the alignment and even spacing throughout the design.I think they all look very professional and do a really good job of portraying the companies in a positive light through the design.

  7. These are all great logos.I love how simple all of these are. I really like the second one. It looks like the "stitch" is embossed. I would really like to see it in tangible form. It looks like it would have a cool texture. The top one looks very professional, clean and simple. It has a classic look to it. I like it.

  8. I agree that the cohesiveness is what makes all of these sets great. While the Fast Eddie's one is pretty busy, it is my favorite! It's really quirky but still kept professional looking by using only black and white and "containing" the clutter with boxes and rules. I also really like the rounded corners. I also really appreciate the extra touches that have been added to each set. For example, the pattern on the inside of the Stitch envelope, the shape of the third set's business cards, and the added color on the Mad Brew set.

  9. I'm gonna say Mad Brew is my personal favorite. Really loving the logo with the mad hatter idea and the type at the bottom feels really well-designed. It's a nice complement to the shape of the logo up top and the letterhead feels airy and uncluttered with plenty of room for the text to fit. It has a well-defined text block without being to obvious. Also, "mad" idea with the bar coasters as business cards, that's a sweet incorporation of the business in a unique way. I also really enjoy Fast Eddie's package. I agree with Sarah that the letterhead's a tad cluttered, but it gives a wonderful vintage barbershop feel to it and is well-designed. I get the vibe of meticulous detail and old-style attention and care. I think for this business perhaps the trade-off between feeling and function isn't such a bad idea.

  10. I really enjoyed the top four stationery sets. The simpleness aspect works really well. I also enjoy the creative typography the designers chose. The second set has a nice color pallet that complements the typographic design. I really like the thin lines and vintage style. At first glance it caught my eye and attention. I too agree that the consistence in a set makes the design. All of these sets do a very good job of that.

  11. I really like the Stitch and Mad Brew stationary sets. They are both simple but very well designed. I think the way the information on the Stitch letterhead is arranged works well with the logo. And I like how the business card complements the letterhead. Not sure where the greenish color on the business card came from though. I think the shape of the Mad Brew business card is very unique and I like the color as well.

  12. I found really interesting, all those example of Stationary. I believe that a good stationery system has to keep the same color pallet of the logo, and it has to be really simple. You could get a little crazy not he business card, but int he letter hear and the envelop, the main reason is the information, that they will writ on it.

  13. I love the clean simplicity of the Stitch set but I also love the third set because it shows how many ideas can exist cohesively in one set. I do not like the first one and the last one as much as the others because I don't think its visually as interesting, though it is well designed.

  14. wow all of these stationary examples are really not what i would of expected stationery to look like. When i think stationery i think boring. This week in class going over stationery has really made me realize i was wrong. These are great examples of what kind of fun unique things you can do with stationery.

  15. In each of these different stationary examples I can see the similarities, but a few really stuck out to me. While not my favorite design, Fast Eddies seemed to have the best stationary effect on me. Probably because of the logo being on everything, yet this seems incredibly effective. It's about creating a brand for yourself and selling your company, and I think this design does it the best. Everything else has a slightly less blunt way of communicating their imagery, yet still the design elements seem to carry over nicely regardless.

  16. Dang you picked out some excellent stationaries! I absolutely love stationary/print design and you've selected some awesome designs! I agree with out on consistency. I think that's the main challenge when creating a stationary; differentiating each piece in a manner other than size differences, whilst also keeping them tied together in a recognizable fashion.
