Charity Brochures

Charity Brochures
I find this brochure at the mission fair table at JBU, I find that often charity brochures (especially for missions) are not well designed. However, when I saw this one it immediately grabbed my attention. The information was laid out in a well designed, interesting way with colors and typographical hierarchy to help grab your attention. It has a nice use of imagery and graphic elements to help make the information more interesting and finally the pictures on the back make it more personable.
When creating brochures for charity one thing that i find to be important is pictures, pictures automatically draw people in and make the brochure more appealing. I find that often people slack when creating brochures for charities, but it really is important to make them look good, people will instantly be more drawn to the one that is well designed and therefore be more likely to donate or volunteer with that charity.

  1. I looked at the images before I read the text and I am surprised that this is only one brochure. This is extremely well designed and I actually want to learn more about the program. I also really like the slogan that the charity used. It is simple and it can be used in many different instances, such as “your opportunities to ‘be’ are endless…” That sentence makes me feel like there are so many different ways that I can “be” a part of the body of Christ and in every way, I can be helpful to someone. Besides what is written on the brochure, there is strong imagery and it is pleasing to look at. If someone handed me this brochure there is no way I could throw it away without looking at it.

  2. I absolutely love this brochure! It grabs my attention and it keeps it. I love how they carry the theme of "be" throughout the brochure. I also love how they take the information in the brochure and make it visually appealing and make me want to read it. I think it's a really good example of information design. This brochure is so effective and I don't see why someone wouldn't want to pick it up and read it. It's aesthetically pleasing and full of good information.

  3. This brochure is very nice! It's easy to follow the information and its very readable from what I can see. The design throughout is very consistent with the style, colors, and 'be' slogan. It's very well designed. If I was walking past the brochure, it would definitely catch my attention with all the imagery and make we want to read it and learn more about the cause

  4. I can't agree more. As an American college student, I can (shamefully) say that almost never spend more than a second glancing at a brochure. Most of them are boring, poorly designed, and I just feel too busy to even bother looking. But when my eyes glance across a well designed, aesthetically pleasing brochure, I'm instantly drawn in. At that point, you've gotten me interested in glancing over your information, which is more than can be said for most brochures out there, and you now have a very vital opportunity to grab my heart and/or my mind (whichever it may be that you're trying to tug at.) Design is so very underestimated these days. Nobody realizes that even the most trivial thing such as a brochure can have so much larger of an impact if it's just well designed.

  5. I'm quite impressed with this brochure. I think its really unique & different from all the brochures that I've seen before.. I like that even though you may not be interested in the cause it gets your attention because of the color, patterns and specially images. I like the fact that the approach of this brochure is more visual because there is not a lot of words.. instead a lot of images and I think this makes it cool.. I think that it is important that as designer we remember that something really simple as a brochure can make a difference in whether the people will support the cause or even get attracted by the brochure itself.

  6. This is fabulous! It's refreshing to me when a missions or Christian organization or even a church can create something beautiful. I think as Christians we often forget that overall we are selling the gospel and cheap advertising does a horrible job of showcasing that. This brochure does a fantastic job of making known what they are doing as well as grabbing the attention of the reader. The colors are great and the photographs are even better and add a personal touch that makes me want to be involved.

  7. I really like this. I would agree that christian organizations often have poorly made design. However, this is full of interesting information portrayed in an interesting manner. I like how the designer guides your eyes through the design, especially with the 6 34 187 page.
